Low Furniture Check: Robot Height vs Under-Sofa Clearance

                             eXGateAI HITs · Robot Vacuum & Mop · Part 10 of 15

Concept illustration of a slim robot vacuum beside a sofa while a person measures clearance.

A slim robot is useful only if it can enter, move under and leave the furniture you want cleaned. Measure the lowest point along the full route, not just the front opening. A sofa that looks tall enough at its legs may have a lower support bar or sagging fabric inside.

Roborock lists a 7.98 cm body height for the Saros 10R on its global product page. Its support material distinguishes the 10R's integrated sensing arrangement from the Saros 10's retractable LDS design. Verify the local model and operating dimensions before ordering; these global references do not establish US stock or a fit guarantee.

Use a clearance record

Write the smallest measurement beside each piece of furniture. Keep the manufacturer's required clearance separate from the published body height. If you cannot find an operating-clearance recommendation, ask support rather than assuming an exact height match is sufficient.

For a low bed with storage underneath, tidying the path may matter more than buying a thinner robot. For a sofa with an internal crossbar, a successful entry is not enough: the robot needs room to turn and return. For furniture over a rug, measure from the actual surface the robot will travel on.

Evaluate the benefit before paying for it

List how much otherwise-unreachable floor a slimmer model would add. If one narrow table is the only obstacle, the premium may be difficult to justify. If most living-room floor space is beneath low furniture, clearance could become a primary purchase criterion.

Run the first under-furniture clean while you can observe and intervene. Keep loose cords and fabric clear. Do not force the machine into a gap or alter protective components to make it fit.

A home measurement exercise is a useful first filter, but it cannot predict every movement under furniture. Use dimensions to eliminate clear mismatches, then use a supervised trial to confirm the remaining candidate. No physical under-sofa test was performed for this article.
